Queueing

The Queue page is for the volunteers who call teams to the field. It lists every alliance match that has not been finalized yet, in playing order, and lets you tick off each team as it arrives. Scorekeepers see those ticks in the scoring dialog, so they know whether to wait for a team or mark it as a no-show.

The page is listed under Competition in the sidebar and is designed to be carried around the pits on a phone or small tablet. Queuers only need the Queuer role, which gives them this page and nothing else. The Scorekeeper, Head Referee, and Admin roles can also use it. See Roles and Permissions.

Match Presence and Team Readiness

Competition Control tracks two different kinds of "present."

  • Team readiness is set once per event on the Check In and Inspection pages. It records that a team has arrived at the venue and passed inspection. See Team Check In and Inspection.
  • Match presence is set per match on this page. It records that a team has arrived at the field for one specific match. A team ticked present for one match is not ticked for the next.

Ticking a team here does not change its ready status, its score, or its ranking. It only tells the scorekeeper who is at the field.

Queueing Teams for a Match

[Screenshot: Queue page showing the All tab with red and blue team checkboxes for upcoming matches]

  1. Open Queue under Competition.
  2. Choose a tab. All shows every unfinalized alliance match on every field. Each alliance field also has its own tab that shows only the matches assigned to it. Matches without a field appear only under All, and solo fields do not get a tab.
  3. Find the next match. Each row shows the match name, scheduled Time, and Field, with the teams in the Red and Blue columns.
  4. Call the teams, and tick the checkbox next to each team number as that team arrives at the field. Red alliance checkboxes are red and blue alliance checkboxes are blue.
  5. If a team leaves the field, or you ticked the wrong one, untick the box.

Ticks save immediately and appear on every other client device within a moment. There is no save button. Matches without teams assigned show no checkboxes; see Field Control and Scoring for how to assign teams.

Once a match's score is finalized with Save Score, the match leaves the list on every tab. If a scored match is still listed, the scorekeeper has not finalized it yet.

How Presence Reaches the Scorekeeper

On the Field Control tab of the scoring dialog, any team that is not ticked present for the match appears under No Show Teams with a Mark [team] No-Show button. Ticking the team on the Queue page removes it from that list. If the scorekeeper does mark the team as a no-show, that becomes a No Show violation for the match and the team receives no credit for it. See Violations.

The Queue page uses the same match order as the Matches page, so the two pages always agree on what is next.

Remarks

Give each queuer the tab for the field they are working. It keeps the list short and avoids ticking a team for the wrong field. Tick teams when they physically arrive at the field rather than when you call them, because the scorekeeper uses the tick to decide whether to start the match. Presence is shared across every device, so if a tick disappears after you make it, another queuer unticked it.
