Finalize and Awards
The Finalize page, under Judging in the sidebar, is where you record who won each award at your event. Judged awards are entered by hand from the judges' decisions. Performance awards, such as the tournament champion and the top solo scores, can be filled in for you from the match results. The page is available to the Admin and Judge Advisor roles, so a Judge Advisor can record judged awards from their own client device while matches are still running. See Roles and Permissions.
The awards listed here come from the Awards step of event setup. Adding an award later adds an empty row, and removing an award with winners asks for confirmation and deletes those winners. For which awards each program offers and how to add or remove them, see Awards.
Recording Award Winners
- Open the Finalize page. The Award column lists each award, and the Winner column shows one selector per winner the award takes.
- For a team award, click Select Team and choose the team. Type part of a team number or name to filter the list.
- For an award given to a person (Volunteer, Mentor, Educator, or Partner of the Year, or a custom award), type the name in Recipient's name and press Enter or click away. Any text is accepted.
- Repeat for each winner slot. After the last slot of an award, focus moves to the next award so you can keep going from the keyboard.
- To clear a winner, clear the selector or delete the text in the name box.
Every change is saved to the host computer immediately. There is no save button, and other devices see the new winner right away. Award slides read their winners from this page and update the moment a winner changes, including a slide already on the audience display.

An award never accepts more winners than it takes. The Judges Award takes 1 or 2 winners depending on How many teams win the Judges Award? on the Awards setup step, which defaults to 2 winners. Lowering it to 1 removes a recorded second winner.
A team cannot hold two placings in the same exclusive group. A Tournament Champion is not offered for Finalist, Semifinalist, or Quarterfinalist, and a team in one solo placing is not offered for another. Teams already holding a conflicting placing are hidden from the Select Team list. If another device records a conflicting winner at the same moment, your pick is refused with "Team [number] is already assigned to '[award]'." Refresh the page and pick again.
A team should also receive only one judged award. This is a warning rather than a block: an amber note appears reading "[team] already has another judged award. Teams can only receive one judged award."
Auto-Filling Performance Awards
- Finish scoring every elimination match and solo match. Auto-fill leaves an award empty if the result is not decided yet.
- Click Auto-fill performance awards.
- Check the tournament and solo awards in the table. Every award auto-fill could decide is filled in, replacing what was there. Awards it could not decide are left as they were.
Tournament Champion and Finalist (or the drone program equivalents) come from the elimination result. For single elimination brackets, Semifinalist and Quarterfinalist go to the alliances that lost in those rounds, and nothing is filled until the Final is decided. For Engage and Aerial Drone Competition, every elimination match must be scored with no tie for first. If the tournament awards stay empty, check that the Final has a saved score and that no two alliances are tied. See Eliminations.
Solo placings come from the solo rankings. Only teams with at least one solo attempt can place, and grade-specific awards take the highest-ranked team in that grade, so a solo award stays empty if no team in that grade has taken an attempt or a team's grade is not set on the Teams page. See Solo Matches.
Auto-fill never touches Excellence, All-Around Champion, or any judged, nominated, or people award. It does overwrite any performance award winner you entered by hand, so re-enter that winner afterwards if you meant to override the result. It is safe to run more than once, and you should run it again if the bracket is rebuilt.
Excellence Eligibility
The Finalize page does not decide Excellence or All-Around Champion eligibility for you, and it does not stop you from recording a team that falls short. To see which teams currently qualify, open the Eligibility page, next to Finalize under Judging. It lists each participating team with its Qual Rank, Solo Rank, solo scores, and a check in the Eligible column, updates live as scores are saved, and lets the judges highlight teams and record notebook status from any judging device. The same performance requirements are available on paper as the Excellence Eligibility by Grade and Excellence Eligibility Combined printouts. See Excellence Eligibility and Reports and Printouts.
After the Event
The Award Ceremony Printouts panel on the Finalize page opens three reports in a new window, each with a Print button.
- Award Winners lists every award with the winning team's number, name, organization, and location. Solo awards show the winning score, and awards without a winner show a dash.
- Award Ceremony Scripts prints one page per award for the emcee with the official description, "The [award] is presented to", and each winner's details. Awards without a winner print blank lines to fill in by hand, so you can print the scripts before every decision is in. When slides exist, the pages follow your slide order.
- Award Certificates prints one certificate per award winner on the official RECF certificate design for the program, filled in with the award, the team number and name, the event name, and the date it is printed. An award given to a person puts their name on the first line. Print them on the certificate paper of your choice in landscape.
Team name, organization, and location come from the team record, so fix typos on the Teams page before printing. The printouts show whatever is recorded when you open them, so reopen them after making changes. See Reports and Printouts and Teams.
To present the awards, build your slides and run the ceremony as described in Award Ceremony. Publishing results to RECF is not available in this version; the event file and printed reports are the record of the event.
